At 4.40pm, on a cloudy Monday afternoon in September 1940, several hundred bombs fell on the sleepy market town of Sherborne.  Seventeen civilians were killed that day and 766 buildings damaged.  Remarkably, neither the Abbey, Almshouse or Sherborne School were not hit.  Find out more about the bombing of Sherborne.
