Old Shirburnians returned en masse to Sherborne for OS Day on Saturday 17th May. The weather was perfect, lots of warm sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Many arrived for the Chapel Service, where Tom Mendel (U6d) gave a magnificent sermon and the Chamber Choir sang a beautiful anthem. The congregation’s rendition of The Carmen could be heard almost to The Upper.

Our guests then moved to The Upper where, after a drinks reception and the chance to mingle and meet up with old friends, they enjoyed a delicious buffet in the marquee, the sides of which had to be rolled up to keep the diners cool. After lunch some OS took the chance to tour their old boarding house, while others settled down in the sunshine to enjoy the cricket. All in all a very enjoyable day.
