The weekend of 10th and 11th of May was a busy one for OS. It started with the Abbey House Dinner on the Friday evening when we welcomed back 60 OS, their guests and current and former staff. The evening started with drinks on The Upper, which looked glorious in the evening sunshine. Although a tad on the cool side everyone soon warmed up in the marquee and enjoyed a delicious dinner courtesy of the catering team. After speeches from the current Housemaster, Hugh Tatham, who toasted the Old Boys and from Rupert Welchman (b 90) who toasted the current and future boys of the House, the evening concluded with a spirited rendition of the Carmen, led by the OS of 1990.
The following day some of the previous evening’s revellers joined 250 OS and their families for OS Day. The sun shone, the Swing Band played magnificently, the 1st XI beat the Sherborne Pilgrims and the lunch was sublime but, for many OS, the highlight of the day was the Chapel service. The Chamber Choir and the quality of the organ playing received many plaudits as did the sermon from the Chaplain David Campbell.
