This beautifully illustrated book with a wonderful chapter devoted to his most famous hunts, covers the life of Ernest Bawden in detail, from his birth in Hawkridge in 1878, to his service with The Royal North Devon Hussars in the Boer War and onwards thoughout the whole time he was in Hunt service until his retirement in 1937. The enthusiasm of the author comes across very clearly and the characters he has assembled for this remarkable story are themselves witness to a golden period.
For all lovers of hounds, hunting, the countryside and in particular Exmoor this book is a real gem. Congratulations to Paddy for allowing us the privilege of sharing the life of a genius.
