Edmund Mansel-Pleydell’s (f 1903-1905) name will be read out at the Tower of London this evening (30 September 2014) at sunset. His name will be included amongst the names of 180 war dead read out by Dame Helen Mirren. Drummer McKenna will play the Last Post. The reading can be viewed this evening via the Tower of London website.
Edmund was a Lieutenant in the Dorsetshire Regiment, attached to the Worcestershire Regiment. He died, aged 28, on 12 March 1915 at Kemmel, Flanders leading his platoon on the first day he went into action. He is commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Panel 37.
