Careers
The OSS has always placed careers advice at its core, supporting OS from the moment they leave school and throughout their professional lives. Whether it’s discussing career aims, improving CVs, or connecting OS with others who can offer advice, direction, or work experience, this network is built on the incredible goodwill of the Sherborne community—something we are immensely grateful for and keen to continue.
With OS willing to help at every stage—through university, postgraduate study, mid-life career changes, and even later-in-life transitions—this service has been revolutionised by our online platform, Sherborne Connect.
Sherborne Connect is at the heart of our careers programme, offering:
Mentoring & Careers Advice – One-to-one support and structured mentoring programmes
Jobs Board – Work experience, internships, and job opportunities
Business Directory – A space to advertise businesses or services within the OS network
Personalised Events Board – A calendar of networking and career events
Live Feed – Share news, photos, and updates
Global Networking – Connect with OS worldwide
The response from OS to career requests is remarkable, and we encourage all Shirburnians to take full advantage of this resource. Whether you need guidance or are in a position to offer help, Sherborne Connect is the place to do it.
Join today and be part of this thriving professional network.
Helping the School
We always welcome the help OS can give our current pupils by meeting with staff and pupils on visits to their campus or company, or attending School based events such as the annual L6 Careers Convention and HE Forum.
Careers and Networking Events
Each year, we organise at least two industry-focused careers and networking events, bringing together experienced OS, parents, and undergraduate or recent graduate OS. These events provide an invaluable opportunity to foster connections, gain sector-specific insights, and explore career opportunities across a wide range of industries.
OSS Professional Events
The OSS hosts a series of events each year for those OS working in sectors such as Media, Property, Law, the City, Tech and others. If we do not already hold an event in your sector of business, please do not hesitate to contact us and I am sure we will be able to arrange something.
How to get involved: We are looking for OS who are willing to share their experiences of professional life to help other OS and present pupils.
If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above schemes or if you are looking for careers advice / work experience please join Sherborne Connect.
