The Old Shirburnian Society was founded in June 1896 by assistant master H.R. King, with its object being to keep former pupils of Sherborne School in touch with the School and with each other. The first list of members contained 264 names, a far cry from the almost 11,000 members we have today.
Our ethos has not changed greatly over the years and we continue to invite groups to reunions and social events at Sherborne and in other parts of the country. Visit our Events page for a list of upcoming events.
An Old Shirburnian Scholarship Fund was instituted in 1870 and we award bursaries to sons of OS to this day. See the Bursaries and OSS Charitable Trust page for more details.
