Benedict Cumberbatch may have gone to Harrow, but his father, the actor Timothy Carlton, came to Sherborne!
During his time at Sherborne, Timothy Carlton Congdon Cumberbatch (g 1953-1958) rubbed shoulders with the nephews of Alan Turing’s school friend, Christopher Morcom, and decided that he wanted to become a professional actor.
