The Songs of Sherborne School were first published collectively in about 1890, followed by later supplemental volumes and words-only editions.
The music for the songs was composed by Louis Napoleon Parker (1852-1944), music master 1873-1877 and Director of Music 1877-1892; Archibald Frank Tester FRCO, LRAM (1882-1925), music master 1903-1915 and Director of Music 1919-1923; Berthold George Thorne BMus (1874-1944), music master 1894-1903; and Francis Clive Savill Carey CBE, BMus, FRCH, Hon RAM (1883-1968), who was a pupil at Sherborne School 1897-1901.
Words were supplied by Sir Lewis Morris (1833-1907), who was a pupil at Sherborne School 1850-1851; James Hamilton Francis Peile (1863-1940), assistant master 1895-1899; James Rhoades (1841-1923), assistant master 1880-1892; Kenneth Bassett Tindall (1884-1976), assistant master 1908-1920; Frederick Brooke Westcott (1857-1918), Headmaster 1892-1908; and Edward Mallet Young (1839-1900), Headmaster 1878-1892.
